Shanntina is Senior Architect at the Department of Public Works and an entrepreneur, currently consulting for construction and building projects in Western New York, with degrees in Architecture and Business. She began acting with Ujima during 2008's production of In De Beginnin'. Soon after, she became a dedicated Ujima member, serving as both Company and Board Vice President in the past.
Raynardo is a Microcomputer Technical Support Specialist at Cheektowaga Central School District and co-owner of Divine Fresh. Ray has a degree in Visual and Digital Design from SUNY Empire State College. He has been a part of Ujima since he was a teen. He now serves as the Vice President of the Board.
Paul A. Battaglia
Paul is a Buffalo native. He is a graduate of Canisius College and the University of Buffalo Law School (magna cum laude). He joined the firm of Jaeckle, Fleischmann & Mugel in Buffalo upon his graduation from Law School in 1972, and was a partner of the firm from 1976 until his withdrawal in 2012. He has been a member of the Adjunct Faculty of the University of
Buffalo Law School since 1994, where he has taught courses on corporate tax, corporate reorganizations, and non-profit organizations. Over the years, Paul has served on the Boards of, and has held leadership positions with, many community organizations, including Shaw Festival
Foundation. In addition to his service with Ujima Company, Paul is presently serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Friends of Knox Farm State Park, Inc., Just Buffalo Literary Center, Inc. and Buffalo Suzuki Strings, Inc. He resides in Orchard Park, New York.
Tyler X Jeter
Tyler is a Facility Analyst for Cannon Design, an engineering and design firm. He is also an abstract artist and muralist. Tyler was active with Ujima for a full year before becoming a Board member and looks forward to the years of service ahead.
Linda is an award winning music educator. She worked for the Buffalo Public School District until her retirement after 37 years. Since then she has continued this work through her Artists in Residency Program and as a vocal music teacher at VillaMaria College. Additionally she has worked as musical director for productions at The African Cultural Center and Lancaster Opera House.
Board of Directors
Joan worked for over 20 years as an elementary school reading teacher. Though retired, she continues her commitment to literacy in young people as a tutor. Retirement has also affored her the time to focus on her photography and environmental justice work. Thanks to her mother’s early encounter with Ujima in Delaware Park, during the production of Anansi the Spider and the Children’s Bill of Rights, she has been fortunate to have seen and been moved by many of Ujima’s productions over the years.
Mary is a speech-language pathologist, recently retired after 30 years working at Western New York Developmental Disabilities Services Office. She has been a long time player in Buffalo's theatre community working with O’Connell & Company, Buffalo United Artists, and the Irish Classical Theatre to name a few. Her involvement with Ujima began with 1989's production of Wedding Band. She has continued to work as an actor with Ujima since then and has served as Company Secretary and Board President in the past.
Sandy White is the Owner of Mustard Seed World Consulting Group, a New York State Certified M/WBE and DBE company; a veteran and award winning TV journalist, news producer, and, documentary producer. Currently she is a contributing radio reporter for WBFO 88.7FM,. As an urban planner, public relations, marketing, communications and community engagement specialist. Sandy continues to utilize her gifts and talents to help transform every project she is graced to work on.
